After the opening cutscene, open the large fruit-shaped chest in the southeast corner to acquire the Savannah Map. Save your progress at the nearby save station and travel through the passage on the east side of the area to reach the Elephant Graveyard.
Lion Sora has unique combat abilities! You should take a moment to get familiar with them:
during a ground combo to use Combo Upper - this sends enemies into the air you you can continue attacking with an air combo.
in the middle of your air combo to use Aerial Impulse - this does a TON of damage to nearby enemies in the air!
to unleash Finishing Blast to deal damage to all nearby enemies.

Living Bone AmbushLiving Bone Ambush |

INFORMATION: Defeat all of the Heartless! Before proceeding, Sora & Co. must defeat two Living Bone Heartless. These are deceptively quick for their size, and they can keep you staggered while dealing lots of damage. Here are a few tips for taking them out quickly:
REWARD: None |
Move forward after the cutscene, heading east to travel through the open passage to The Savannah. Continue north across the savannah and through the open passage on the far end to reach Pride Rock.
NEW HEARTLESS: Aerial Knocker, Living Bone
Lion Sora cannot use the Guard ability, Summons or Drive Forms in combat, so take some time practicing Sora's attack combos on smaller Heartless in the Savannah. You can deal lots of damage with Lion Sora's Aerial Impulse ability (press
in the middle of your air combo).
After the cutscene, open the large fruit-shaped chest on the far cliff edge in front of Pride Rock to acquire the Pride Rock Map. You can Save your progress in Stone Hollow (through the small passage along the rockface in the southeast), then approach the exit to the Savannah to continue.
After conversing with Nala, travel southeast across the savannah and through the passageway in the southeast corner to reach Wildebeest Valley. After another cutscene, Lion Sora will learn the Dash ability - this will let you run around much more quickly by holding down the
button as you move the left stick. Travel across the valley to the opposite end to reach the Wastelands.
Travel across the winding trail and through the passage at the opposite end to reach the jungle. Don't forget that you can run quickly by holding the
button! Follow the path uphill and go through the passage at the highest point to reach the oasis.
After the cutscene, Gumo’s Moogle Shop; there are new ring accessories for purchase that boost your AP (and the more expensive options also boost Strength or Magic!). Save your progress at the nearby save station and travel downhill towards the town to continue.
When you arrive at the oasis, open the large fruit-shaped treasure chest on the far edge of the cliff across from the waterfalls to acquire the Oasis Map. You should also open the large chest near a lone tree on the opposite side of the oasis to acquire the Torn Pages. You can visit Kumop’s Moogle Shop to synthesize new items and/or purchase new weapons for Donald and Goofy at 600 Munny each.
If you have been diligent so far in defeating lesser enemies and collecting treasure chests, you should be able to synthesize a Garnet Ring, Mythril Ring, and Soldier Earring by the time you first reach the oasis in Pride Lands.
When you’re ready to proceed, return to the jungle via the passage in the northwest corner. After the next cutscene, approach Simba and use Cheer Up. After the cutscene, Sora acquires the Circle of Life keychain and
Before proceeding, turn off Simba’s Auto Limit ability - this will prevent you from accidentally using Simba’s limit when you’re trying to execute a reaction command in combat. You can also move Simba’s two Potions and one Ether into your own stock at this time if you wish to keep them.
Save your progress in the Oasis, then travel back through the Jungle, Wastelands, and Wildebeest Valley to reach the Savannah. A cutscene will play and the party will be brought to Pride Rock; Simba leaves the party at this time.
NEW HEARTLESS: Shaman
Shaman Heartless have a small chance of dropping the rare Shaman’s Relic staff for Donald - it increases both his Strength and Magic and has Blizzard Boost as a passive ability!
You can Save your progress in Stone Hollow (through the small passage along the rockface in the southeast). When you are ready to proceed, enter the King’s Den located along the back wall at the top of Pride Rock.

INFORMATION: Defeat all of the hyenas! Coordinate with Pumbaa to lure them together. Your goal is to defeat all three Hyenas without Timon and Pumbaa's DAMAGE gauge filling completely. Here are a few tips for survival:
REWARD: Sora HP +5 | Donald HP +4 | Goofy learns Lucky Lucky |
After sending the hyenas away, you can return to Stone Hollow to Save your progress if you wish. When you are ready to continue, travel up the northwest passageway within the King’s Den to reach the summit.

ScarScar |
HP: 440 DIFFICULTY: Scar attacks in four different modes that he can randomly move into multiple times. The fight opens with Scar in the neutral phase, where he approaches you slowly and strikes quickly with somersaults and claw attacks. You can use Lion Sora’s Dash ability to keep your distance and avoid damage. If you quickly press and release the dash button as he attacks, then jump back toward Scar, you can strike with a quick air combo that staggers him. Or you can use Reflect magic at the right time to deal damage when Scar closes in to attack. If you see Scar pause for a moment before striking, he will latch onto Sora and attack with his claws; you’ll have to break free using the Counter reaction command when it appears.
In the fire phase, Scar will surround himself in flames and leap around, leaving three fire fissures that circle around wherever he lands. There’s an opportunity to stagger him whenever he is mid-jump, and you can always count on Scar to jump directly over you first. Take that moment to jump and strike with a complete air combo. You can also try staggering him this way using Thunder magic if you can’t get the jump and attack timing right. If you remain in place during his attack, Scar will typically leap in a triangle formation and the fire fissures won’t reach you; you can use these moments to heal up with cure or change out a party member if you want to.
In the thunder phase, Scar will summon small groups of lightning bolts around him at regular intervals. As he circles slowly, you can stagger him with a ground combo just after he releases the small batch of bolts. He also uses a two-part attack where he leaps twice accompanied by a long series of lightning bolts - he will first leap forward, and then his second leap will be back or to the side. You can stagger him just as the bolts disappear from this second leap. I recommend casting Blizzard to stagger him first, then move in with a full ground combo.
In his aura phase, Scar becomes wrapped in a dark aura and rushes around the arena with dark flames trailing behind him. As he moves around, he will turn and run directly at you three times before stopping. There are two methods you can use to avoid this tough attack; you can cast Reflect magic just as Scar approaches you directly to prevent taking damage. Or you can use the Dash ability to move in tight counter-clockwise circles, then jump to Scar’s right side as he moves directly at you, then repeat this maneuver until the attack is ended. If you try this evasion method, be sure to lock onto Scar so that you don’t have to worry about moving the camera that much. You can use Simba’s Wildcat limit to deal decent damage to Scar. Use the X-Claw command to continually deal damage at ground level, then finish with the Proud Roar command for extra damage. This limit is also great for avoiding damage during Scar’s dark aura attack because you are invincible for as long as it’s active.
REWARD: Sora acquires Fire Element & MAX MP +10 | Donald learns Fire Boost | Goofy MAX HP +5 | Simba MAX HP +30 |
|
After defeating Scar, Sora will open a new pathway with the Keyblade and acquire Fira magic. After the cutscene, you'll be taken to the world map. Before landing in a world, take note of its BATTLE LV in the top-right corner of the world menu. It's recommended to visit worlds in ascending order of battle level. Assuming you have already cleared the first story episodes in Agrabah and Halloween Town as well, your next step is to Land in Twilight Town.
If you acquired the Torn Pages in the Oasis, you can now return them to the book in Merlin's House and explore a new area of the Hundred Acre Wood. If you have completed the first story episodes in Agrabah, Halloween Town, and the Pride Lands, the Cerberus Cup will become available in Olympus Coliseum's Underdrome.
