The Black Ballade is a special Heartless introduced in Kingdom Hearts Final Mix. It's looks similar to the flying elemental Heartless and drops the rare Lightning Stone synthesis item.

Finding the Black Ballade

The Black Ballade Heartless is only found in the Thicket area in Deep Jungle. You should see it immediately floating above the lone mossy mound near the center of the area; if any other Heartless appear instead, leave and re-enter the area.

Defeating the Black Ballade

The Black Ballade creates copies of itself that float around the area, then rest above the mossy mound. Your objective is to strike the real Black Ballade. The real Black Ballade will jump high and float down just before they start to move around. Keep an eye on its movement among the others; when it settles, strike it with the Keyblade.

If you strike the real Black Ballade, you'll receive Tech Points and Munny. If you strike a copy, you'll be struck with a lightning bolt instead. You can more easily keep track of the real Black Ballade by pause-buffering (quickly pausing and un-pausing, forcing the game to only show you a few frames at a time).

Obtaining the Lightning Stone

You have a 10% chance of receiving a Lightning Stone when striking the real Black Ballade, and a 100% chance of receiving one if you strike the real enemy four times. To improve your odds, equip all Lucky Strike abilities to the party and use the pause-buffer strategy to keep track of the real enemy.
