The Chimera is a special Heartless introduced in Kingdom Hearts Final Mix. It's a unique Heartless that drops the rare Blazing Stone synthesis item.

The Chimera Heartless is only found in the Manor Ruins in Halloween Town. If you've already unsealed the Red Trinity on the archway, you'll know you've encountered the right Heartless mob when this Red Trinity does NOT appear. If you haven't yet unsealed this Trinity, another indicator of the Chimera's presence is the appearance of Wight Knights (a single one at first, then a group of three, and finally a group of five).
Even if you have already unsealed the Red Trinity on the archway near the creek, it will still appear as if you did not when encountering the Heartless mobs that do NOT include Chimera; Jiminy's Journal will still reflect that you unsealed this trinity.
The Chimera will appear after you've defeated several groups of Wight Knights around the archway (described above). The Chimera will then descend and begin to wreak havoc, leaping around the area and summoning Gargoyles. Cast Thundaga magic to clear out the Gargoyles, then focus your attacks on the Chimera.
When the Chimera's HP is depleted, its three heads will spill out and start bouncing around. The key to success is striking the heads as many times as possible before they return to the Chimera. Here are a few tips to maximizing deflections:
If you are struck by one the heads, it will immediately return to the Chimera and the first attack phase will begin again; take out the Gargoyles and deplete the Chimera's HP again, then strike the heads until its primary HP is depleted.
The Chimera has a 35% chance of dropping a Blazing Stone when defeated (its secondary HP bar must be fully depleted by striking its heads back at it). Additional Blazing Stones may drop the more times you deflect the heads back before they return to the Chimera:
# Deflected1 | Rewards |
---|---|
0 Heads | None |
3 Heads | 10 Munny |
6 Heads | 35 Munny Blazing Stone (20%) |
9 Heads | 60 Munny Blazing Stone (40%) Blazing Stone (100%) |
1 These odds only apply when you consecutively deflect the heads before they return to the Chimera. The odds do not stack when you deplete the Chimera's HP bar and release the heads multiple times. Each head can be deflected up to three times before it returns to the Chimera automatically (for a total of 9 deflections each time the heads are released).
If you're trying to get the Chimera to respawn, you will need to move two rooms away in order to reset the encounter. Check out our Synthesis Tutorial for more information about room resets.
